This double page spread was produced by one of the biggest Hip-Hop magazine publishers, XXL, and featured the rapper B.G talking about his upcoming prison sentence and the details behind his conviction. The header, 'long time coming' is a double meaning as it suggests that the rapper knew he was due to go into prison and that the interview has been delayed for a long time, engaging audiences to find out which one it gravitates towards. The colours also suggest the seriousness of the interview whilst still being aesthetically pleasing as it follows the classic magazine three colour formula with black, blue and white. This is good as it doesn't distract the reader with too many contrasing colours but instead blends well together and allows for a professional look with some charisma behind it. The image on the right takes up the entire page, this is good as a creative choice as it shows with his serious face that the article is serious and high value as they have decided to print an entire page just showing the rappers face. The font choices are also an intresting choice as they don't stand out and look concrete like and cold which may be intentional based on the seriousness of the interview and the disscussions being held.
This is my content page moodboard used for insperation on what is common for Hip-hop magazine content pages to have to be sucessful. I will keep these in mind whilst designing the content page for my final magazine as these will bring me insperation and extra knowledge required to design a cuturally acceptable and professional looking magazine content page.
As I prepare to finish my final magazine front cover, I made a draft for what I want my cover page to look like. Everything is subject to change however this outline with be followed with some accuracy to ensure that the magazine looks professional and well thought out rather then made up on the spot, ensuring a more professional and polished look.
These are my final images for my magazine shot in the northern quarter of Manchester on the 28th November 2016. These were taken in various locations such as on the top of car parks and behind graffiti and were aimed at a grimy, urban hip-hop look. |
